Paris Gare De Lyon/ Paris Austerlitz

I am traveling from Avignon to Amboise by train and I connect through Paris. I have to change stations - Gare De Lyon to Austerlitz. It seems they are just across the river from each other but how quickly/easily can you get between the two?

Hi Susan,

I can't be super-precise because the map I pulled is for car traffic and takes one around the block the long way because of one-way streets. You'd be walking and avoid all that, so roughly it is 2.6 km, which is 1.6 miles (I think). You can see my results at:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=Gare+de+Lyon+station+(Gare+de+Lyon)&daddr=gare+d'austerlitz&dirflg=h&sll=48.843254,2.371159&sspn=0.010563,0.028367&ie=UTF8&z=16&om=1

However, if you don't want to walk with your bags for a mile and a half, it would talk you about 6 minutes on the Metro. You'd go from the Gare de Lyon in the direction of Gare de Juvisy, and get off at the Gare d'Austerlitz Grand Lignes stop. You can search this at:

I'm sorry, but the previous poster's information is incorrect. According to viamichelin.com, it's a 0.9km, 14-minute walk from Gare de Lyon to Gare d'Austerlitz. And you can't get directly from one station to the other on the Metro/RER. You could take Metro line 1 to Bastille and then Metro line 5 to Gare d'Austerlitz. Or you could take Metro line 14 to Bibliotheque Francois Mitterand and then the RER C to Gare d'Austerlitz. The simplest way on public transportation would be to take either bus #57 or bus #63 directly between the stations.

I'm sorry about that.

I didn't intend to give incorrect information. The metro search I did on the RATP site at http://www.ratp.info/informer/anglais/ so I have no idea why the information it gave me was incorrect. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something about the RATP site.

As to the other, I disclained it as being a google search that went too far around the block because it was designed for car travel. I knew that one was off a bit.
