Paris Driving Service

I am looking to book ahead of time transportation from the Airport (CDG) to my hotel Hotel Londres Eiffel. I am a solo women traveler and prefer to have something booked before hand. Any reputable suggestions? Thank you.

The taxis from the official taxi queue at CDG are certainly reputable . Plus they have fixed rates to the left or right banks of central Paris.

I'd just get in the official Paris taxi line. It's so easy and convenient and reputable. Very professional. Line moves very quickly. Trying to locate the private driver sounds more problematic, plus it puts you in the area where all the unprofessional people trying to lure you into riding with them stand. Just follow the signs to the official taxi line and ignore everyone else. The fees are set depending on left bank or right bank. Also, official taxi's can go in the bus lanes so they can keep moving when traffic is slow otherwise.

Most often a solo woman traveler. Frequent Paris visitor. I have no hesitations in using the taxi lines at CDG.

Use the fixed price official Paris taxis, exit the terminal, follow the signs, do not accept any offers for "taxi" from anyone inside the terminal or as you walk to the curbside queue.

I fly to Paris often, and always use the official taxis at CDG. Last trip to Paris in Dec '24, there was an official booth with helpers affiliated with the service, located between baggage claim and right before the customs passage, and I allowed a nice young woman to escort us to the taxi queue since the terminal was under a lot of construction and confusion (arrived on Delta).

Booking ahead for airport pickup always creates the risk of your plane arriving late, and/or you are held up getting through passport control, bag claim, and customs, and your car is canceled...you pre pay those and if you aren't there on time and miss your ride, you lose your money...I do like to use the service Welcome Pickups to get from central Paris to CDG, but not upon arrival at CDG for the reasons I have given above.

Another post from a solo older gal...I also go to the official taxi line at CDG.

When you come out of the baggage/customs area look down at the floor for blue disks that indicate the way to the taxi rank. I always have the name of my hotel + full address (including the 75007 arrondissement number) typed on a 3x5 card to hand to the driver. Out beside it I have written: "Fixed rate - 65E". As the driver is loading my bag I hold up either my credit card or my phone and ask "OK"?

I have never felt unsafe at all in a taxi in Paris. Since I go often and go to the area near Londres Eiffel I mostly know the route. I will watch the driver's GPS and sometimes they take an odd route and I figure it is because of traffic. There is no gain for them to get you there any way but the fastest since it's a flat rate.

No tip needed.

I've not seen anyone post about private drivers in Paris in a while but they used to be way less reliable about turning up than just getting in to a taxi the taxi line manager waves you to.

I also just looked at the Londes Eiffel website to see if they offer a chauffeur service. I don't see it listed but you can always contact them and ask. I think all their staff speaks English, at least that was my experience staying there.

Taxi is the easiest way to go, as others have noted. If you want to defray the cost somewhat, you might try Super Shuttle:

My first trip to Paris was also a solo trip, and I felt the same way as you do about reserving a ride in advance. I arranged a pre-paid RT reservation on Super Shuttle about a week or so before my flight, and it was a relief to have it all squared away. One less thing to worry about. If I recall, there was a slight discount for booking a RT reservation.

I don't know if Super Shuttle still does this, but one of the things I liked about the one and only time I used this service from CDG is that while booking your reservation online, they ask you to provide your flight number, carrier, arrival time, etc, so they know approx when you need a ride. When you're ready for your ride, you go to their office in the terminal to check in, and they'll put you on the next available shuttle. A delayed flight doesn't mean they will cancel your reservation. But you should read the fine print, of course.

The downside to the Super Shuttle shared van is that they usually make multiple stops. Just depends how many passengers are with you on the van. But, like a taxi, it will be door-to-door service, which is what you want. I was fortunate that my Paris apartment was the first destination (lucky me!), but one never knows how that will go. One caveat is that I've taken Super Shuttle to CDG twice (from central Paris), and both times the number of passenger pick ups combined with traffic meant that it took longer than I had hoped to get to CDG, making it a bit stressful. Be sure to pad extra time for getting to CDG for your return flight (if flying from CDG). For a return to CDG, I would recommend a cab or the Roissy Bus, if their pick up locations are convenient for you.

Another older solo woman who recommends taking the fixed-rate taxi instead of unnecessarily spending more money for what is essentially the same thing.

I’m an older, solo woman, and the only time I’ve ever felt insecure on the trip from Charles de Gaulle airport to the hotel was the only time I booked the shuttle.

The driver was not very good. He made inappropriate comments etc. I almost felt like he was trying to figure out if I was an easy mark to be taken advantage of. Just get a taxi, that’s what I now do and they’re professional and know where they’re going - more than can be said for the shuttle drivers.
