It seems Paris basically has two metro passes (Paris Visite) the 1-3 Zone, and the 1-6 Zone. The cost is significantly more for the latter (double the price).
Is it worth it? We have 4 days and 4 nights in Paris (our first time there) in April and are unsure which to purchase. Our hotel is in Zone 1.

There are other passes, virtually all of which are better deals than the Paris Visite. Which is best depends upon which days of the week you'll arrive and depart, whether you'll be arriving by plane or train, and which zones you'll be traveling in during the bulk of your time in Paris. Usually a pass for zones 1 & 2 works best. Sometimes simply buying a carnet of ten tickets and sharing them as needed is best, particularly if you enjoy walking.
