Paris --> Chamonix by train help

I just received my Railpass from the Rick Steves site. I will be heading to Chamonix from Paris and I can't seem to find any train schedule or route to get to Chamonix. In the Eurrail Schedule it doesn't have a Paris - Chamonix (or anything else around there) timetable. I know Rick's book mentions that there are ways of getting to Chamonix without having to go through Switzerland(I have a France pass). If anyone oculd weigh in with some experience or info I would really appreciate it.

You can check either the French national rail website at tgv-europe.com (keep telling it you live in Great Britain), or the German national rail website at bahn.de. Any of the legs involving the French TGV (high speed) trains will require a reservation. You may want to consider getting one in advance, since there are connections you want to make. You can either wait until you get to France, or have a reservation in hand, albeit at a higher cost, from RailEurope.com

You may have to try a route from Paris to Lyon that will get you to the French Alps region, then from Lyon to Chamonix. It is a very short distance from Lyon. We drove from Lyon to Geneva in 1hr15 min...so you get the idea of how close it is.

Good luck with your planning!
