Paris central to Orly

In December I will be going to Orly from a central Paris apartment. I would like to take a 7:40 am flight, but I don't know if I am trying to leave too early. Is it reasonable to go via a private taxi leaving about 6am and make the 7:40 flight?
Thanks! sg

Leaving at 06:00 is too late. You'll need to to be at Orly around that time. Book a taxi for an earlier departure. Or you could take a taxi from your apartment to the closest RER B station (Gare du Nord, Chatelet-Les Halles, Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, or Luxembourg) in time to catch the first RER B train which arrives at Antony at 05:48. The first Orlyval driverless shuttle train leaves Antony at 06:00. It arrives at Orly-Ouest at 06:06 and at Orly-Sud at 06:08.

Thank you Tim. I have quickly decided that a noon departure will be better.

Steve,
2 weeks ago we took a taxi from central paris (notre dame cathedral central) to orly (west) for a 8:15 flight. it was Thursday morning and they picked us up at 5:45. We were unloading at the airport at 6:15 a.m. (30 minutes, no traffic). Checking in took about 15 minutes, security another 15, and walking to our gate another 15; so there's 45 minutes without delays/crowds. The taxi took a credt card and it cost 45 euros (they charge extra for early morning) and was 100% worth it. The taxi company had a specific phone # to call for English, and the agent was very detail oriented in her questions. We called the night before to confirm it and they had everything just right. Overall it was painless and quick... just consider the minimum time from pick-up to gate 1.5 hours.
