Currently pricing flights from US to Geneva this summer. On my departure date, there are two good flight times with reasonable price tags. One is on Air France, connecting through CDG, the other on Edelweiss/Swiss Air connecting through Zurich. Differences in travel time, connection time, and price are negligible. Any recommendations as to which airline and/or airport would be a better travel experience? Have not flown either airline, and while I’ve flown in and out of CGD a few times, I’ve never connected there.
Zurich will have less delays, smaller crowds, quieter atmosphere, and more relaxing airport to go through.
From what I hear, I would pick just about anywhere over CDG.
Just be aware that the Geneva - Zurich leg could be a train, and that depending on where you are staying going directly to ZRH and flying out from there may be more efficient.
I connected to Geneva from Zurich last year with no problems. Last week, I landed at Zurich at 10:25 and was waiting for my train at the airport train station at 10:55. I was in the front of the airplane, but still, that probably only gave me a 10 minute head start.
Zurich Airport for sure.
I would fly non stop to CDG and then relaxing train to Geneva…no worries about connecting flights or delays-that’s what I am doing in June,
Problem with that is that there are no direct trains from CDG to Geneva. You must take at least one change, and often more using the RER system, and it take at least 4 3/4 hours.
If you want to travel by train, there are 2 direct trains every hour from Zurich airport and it is a 3 hour ride. Now that is a relaxing train ride.
Thanks everyone! Looks like Zurich is the winner, whether train or plane connection is made to Geneva. Appreciate all the feedback!
I agree that ZRH is the best transit airport in the continent.
