Paris CDG to City Centre

We arrive Paris 09h00. Would you recommend RER-B to Paris St. Michel Notre Dame or some other mass transportation? We are resonably fit and only have 2-25" roller bags. Our hotel seems to be one block from St.Michel Notre Dame Metro-RER station.

hi, thats low hanging fruit to me. by the way (btw) you can use google maps to see where you hotel is from the tube stop. i did and its sort of cool since you will probably have a deja-vu moment once you pop out of the tube stop. happy trails and have fun.

We have stayed at a hotel in the 6th arron. twice. Both times, our hotel made arrangments for us to be picked up by a particular taxi service. The driver met us at the airport or the train station. We walked a short distance to his car. It was an arranged price. We paid the driver directly. Then when it was time to leave Paris, the driver met us again. As it was an pre-arranged price, there were no surprises at the end. Even if we got caught in traffic, we didn't have to worry about the meter.

Bill, I agree with the others. Using the RER "B" is about the easiest method, especially as it's not affected by traffic. Even if the Taxi rate was a "fixed amount", sitting in traffic when tired and jet lagged wouldn't be my favourite activity. As you've noted, the RER also stops at St. Michel-Notre Dame, which is only two stops past Gare du Nord. It will be faster to buy RER tickets from the Kiosks, as there's usually a HUGE QUEUE at the staffed ticket office. However, one important point to note is that the Kiosks ONLY accept "Chip & PIN" credit cards or Euro coins. You may find it helpful to have a look at the excellent Paris By Train website. Happy travels!
