Paris CDG Airport Terminal 2 Question

We are flying into CDG in April, I believe our Northwest flight will arrive at 2E. I'm just trying to get a sense of how this terminal is laid out. After arrival, is it far to the baggage claim? Is it on the same level? I've looked at the airport map and it is great, I just can't see where the baggage claim area is. Also, how easy is it to get to the TGV station at this terminal, can you easily walk to it? Our son is coming out from Paris to meet us, I was thinking of having him wait in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel which I believe is right above the TGV station, is this correct? Is there a better place to meet?
Sorry for all the questions, its our first time flying into Paris and I have at times been accused of 'over preparing' :-) I just want to know where I'm going!
Thanks in advance!

I arrived in Terminal 2A and we had to go down the steps to go out of the plane, get in a bus, then go up a flight of steps, walk across a walk way, then go up another flight of steps to get to imigration once we passed immigration then there was the baggage claim. From baggage claim there is customs, a door way and then the unsecure area of the airport. After all that, I took a cab and paid 50Euros because I thought I was going to die. I was alone and if I had someone meeting me, I would have probably takeing public transport.

It was a year ago for me since I did this so maybe someone has done it more resent.

Thanks for the reply Jona, I did study that web page, the diagrams are nice. I still can't quite put it into perspective though. For example it seems it is a multi level terminal, is the baggage claim on the same level are the arrival gates? Also each terminal wing is shown seperately, I'm wondering if there are corridors connecting each? or outside walkways? I have found that the TGV station is on the lowest level but can you access it from 2E or must you go outside. Sorry this seems overly detailed, we'll be tired from traveling though and I'd like to have a sense of the proximity of things. Once again thanks for all the help and replys. Appreciate it!
