2011 list of the world's worst airports... http://www.sleepinginairports.net/worst-airports.htm#.Tp8dDXJe6TY While Paris doesn't have THE worst airport of all it's the only city with two of their airports being in the top ten...
2011 list of the world's worst airports... for airport sleepers.
IMO there are very few places in Europe worse than Marseille Airport's budget-airline terminal MP2. Long delays due to understaffing for immigration and security, baggage carousels that are too small for the job, little furnishing at the departure gates, handwritten boarding passes, having to carry your suitcase from the check-in area to the conveyor belt... the whole thing is designed to make it clear just what worthless scum the airport thinks budget-flight passengers are.
While Paris has two (?) airports on the list (I don't know if you can really count Beauvais since it is a long ways outside of Paris), we should have a little understanding for CDG since it is the second busiest airport in Europe (after Heathrow). More people means more chances of complaints.
Well as regards Reykjavik it isn't exactly on the route to/from the U.S./Canada and Europe so the airport is on the small side (and they have that whole erupting volcano thing as and on/off hassle). I thought it was an excellent airport for it's location. A bit boring and not much to do inside the terminal but I didn't worry about my luggage getting lost either:) Very friendly staff.
Aren't three of these airports the ones that Ryan Air flies into and out of? Hmmm.
Actually, it's more like 5 (maybe 4½). Ryan flies from Hahn, Begamo, Beauvais, and Luton. It uses Pisa, but it's not the only airline using Pisa. The thing with Ryan is that many of their flights are late at night or early morning, and the local transport does not cover them, so flyers might be forced to spend the night in the airport. Maybe that's why they have so many complaints. Actually two of the ten airports (LA and Manila) aren't anywhere near Europe, and Reykyavik and Kiev are hardly mainline Europe. That leaves 6, and except for CDG, all are RyanAir airports.
Regarding Reykjavik Airport, Icelandic Air stops there when flying from Seattle on by far the cheapest fare to Europe I have found for summer travel. You can even stay there for a couple of days if you so like which can be an attraction for someone who has never been to Iceland - like me.
