Paris Air & Space Museum - Versallies in one day?

We would like to go from the Left Bank St Germain of Paris to the Paris Air & Space Museum and then to Versailles. Is it possible to do this in one day and if so what method of transportation would be the easiest. Is there any websites that plan the trip out for you? Thanks in Advance!

It'd be really hard. The Air and Space Museum is out at Le Bourget (NE, about halfway to De Gaulle). Versailles is out to the west about the same distance from the center of the city. RER B goes to Le Bourget, RER C to Versailles.....the two connect at the St Michele - Notre Dame station, thus the logistics are simple. Most people that post here seem to think you need most of the day at Versailles, some make it in half a day, ten minutes would be fine for me........I could spend a week at any flying machine museum and not be satisfied. The train will dump you within about a ten-minute walk to the Versailles chateau. I've only driven to Le Bourget, but from where I THINK the station is to the museum would require a bus or a taxi or something...thus eating up more time out of the day. Good luck, and if you want a recommendation of which one to skip.........EDIT. I found the train station on a map, it's a mile and a half from the museum. I also found something else that said the #152 Bus makes the trip...forgot where I found it, but there were no details.

I'm airplanes, not space, so that's where my emphasis was both times. Heavy on French aircraft on both sides of WW I, a few examples of the opposition, a good chunk of the modern stuff, a couple of really good examples of the very, very early stuff. Overall, not near as good as the DC museum. I thought I was done, but will go back in a couple of weeks with a buddy who's never been there. Update if I remember and can find the thread.

So, now, my interest is piqued. How is the Air and Space museum? I am in aerospace, and we have the Museum of Flight here in Seattle.

Thanks for the information Ed. I am going to try and make it work while I am in Paris possibly to or from the Charles De Gaule airport. I am intrested in seeing the early examples of flight. I have been to lots of air museums in the United States and have always been told not to miss the one in Paris. My favorites are the USAF museum (Wright Patterson AF base) and of course the Smithsoian in DC, the Naval Air museum in Pennsicola, FL, EAA in Oshkosh, WI and the Museum of flight in Seattle, WA.

Bill, when are you going? Can you post an update when you get back? I couldn't find much (any, really) in reviews/trip reports on the museum. I might see if we can fit this in one day, as well.

Thanks for everyone's insights. I am also in aviation and am wondering if the Paris Air and Space museum is worth the trip (I will be in Paris for 2.5 days, and I've already itemized a list of "must-sees" that won't leave me with much free time). I just got back from San Diego, where I had the chance to visit their air and space museum (good, if a tad overpriced), and have also visited numerous other air and space museums (including the Smithsonian). If I were to go to Le Bourget, how long would it take to take Metro Line 7 and Bus 152 there and back from Central Paris? Would the whole trip+museum be doable in 3-4 hours? Thanks!

Bus No. 350, which has a stop near the Gare du Nord, stops at Le Bourget on its way to CDG.

Jeff, thanks a million. I am familiar with Scramble (I tend to "stalk" the RNLAF demo teams :-). I will definitely try to get out to Le Bourget; I have about 3-4 hours to get to Le Bourget and back (I will have two full days in Paris, but I've already planned out my "must see" museums based around opening hours). I've read that Le Bourget is largely devoted to early aviation; I'm primarily interested in the jet age and military aviation. Does the museum also offer a good selection of modern aircraft? Thanks, Sarah
