Paris

I was wondering if it was possible to travel to and/or from Paris on an international train that is not Thalys. For example can you go into Paris from Belgium or go from Paris to Switzerland or Germany on a train that is not Thalys. My reason for asking is I will have a global eurail pass and I don't really want to pay the $20 reservation fee for a Thalys train when I could afford to take a train that is slower if there is not such a high supplement fee. Thanks!

FROM Paris, take TGV. The reservation fee is not that high. INTO Paris from countries north of France it may be possible to take short train rides from town to town until you arrive in Lille, then take TGV into Paris.
