Paperless Global Entry

Flew back to the US last night and encountered another change at Global Entry. JFK. Terminal 8.

Walk up to machine, have your photograph taken and then told to proceed to agent. No paper slips. When you see the agent, hand over your passport. They compare it to a set of images on their computer screen. I was asked if I had anything to declare, I said no and was done.

The arrivals hall was packed with only a handful of agents. Global Entry and Mobile Passport were given priority and some on the regular line were not happy.

We noticed the paperless Global Entry in Seattle back in November. My husband and I kept waiting for the paper, but then moved on.

It was my first time back to the U.S. since early October so I don't knoW when paperless started at JFK.

We encountered this when flying home from Germany in mid-December in Atlanta. One problem - only one Globel Entry kiosk was working! Line did not move fast as many travelers were waiting for the paper to appear!

Global Entry at LAX was so fast, I wasn't even in position near the terminal when it spotted me and said walk on.

No piece of paper, I just walked over to collect my bags and left the airport. And none of this anything to declare business either, which I find kinda disturbing.

Ditto what Fred described following my LHR to LAX flight in July of 2022 and November of 2021.

Ha! I'm so new to Global Entry (first use of it when arriving at ATL in November) that I didn't know any paper had been/might be involved !

When I did global in 2021 at JFK the machine printed out a little receipt like an ATM and you just handed it to a bored employee as you exited the area

My 5yo grandaughters flew back from visiting their grandparents in Paris on January 1. Their mothers had to lift them up in because they aren't tall enough to fit in the outline on the screen.

It’s bizarre how each terminal at JFK acts like its own individual airport.

When I returned to JFK from Frankfurt into terminal 4 three months ago, I went to the kiosk since I have GE and did what you described. I then went directly to the baggage carousel to get my luggage, went through customs as it is always a walk-through and then saw my husband! I never once talked to an agent.

The new process was in place at San Francisco when I flew in early June 2022. Fast and easy.

Bypassed the mob and walked right up the the kiosk when I arrived terminal 5 at ORD in September. Just facial photo on the screen. Then walked over to the CBP agent and he handed me a card that said "Mobile Passport." Never asked if I had anything to declare.

Then waited 3+ hours for my bag b/c outside transfer belt was broken.
