Pamplona, Spain to Bayonne, France by bus

I need to get from Pamplona to Bayonne in June and I'm hoping to do so by bus. (However, I am open to other suggestions that don't involve renting a car.) From the travel guides that I have looked it, it seems that I can get to Pamplona to Bayonne by stopping in Irun, San Sebastian, or possibly another city in between. Does anyone have experience with a particular route? I would like to take the route that takes the least amount of time. Are there timetables for the buses posted anywhere? Is it okay to buy tickets from the station just prior to departure or is it possible to purchase online or over the phone from the US? Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!

You can take an ALSA bus from Pamplona to Bayonne. Here's the website: http://tinyurl.com/7dzm3z9 Start by putting "Spain" and "France" in the left-hand Origin-Destination boxes. Then choose your cities in the right-hand boxes.

For anyone else who may be looking, I asked the same question at Lonely Planet and was referred to both ALSA and PESA bus lines. Having two different bus companies to check opened up scheduling a great deal. For example, it looks best to take the ALSA bus to San Sebastian and then take a PESA bus to Bayonne. Erin,
There is a shuttle service primarily used by people going to St Jean Pied du Port to walk the Camino de Santiago, they can pick you up in Pamplona, even if that's not your plan I see no reason you can't use them. The more people in the shuttle the cheaper is it. Here is a link to their website. http://www.expressbourricot.com/en.html

The connection on the ALSA bus takes about 4-1/2 hours. It would be quicker and less expensive just to take a bus from Pamplona to San Sebastian-Donostia and then the TOPO (Euskotren) to Hendaye, where you can catch the local bus to Bayonne. Consider it an adventure. www.euskotren.es/es
