Pairs Gare du Nord to CDG hotel for overnight stay

Fellow travelers:
I've seen the posts about the taxis from CDG into Paris proper, but nothing in return that I can find.
We will be coming back to Gare du Nord and then staying overnight at a CDG hotel and flying home via Delta from terminal 2E.
Is a taxi a good solution (cost is no concern, nor is time) or other options you would recommend?
Arriving Gare du Nord on a Friday 1230hrs with hotel check-in not until 1500hrs.

We will have 1 checked bags, 2 carry on plus the usual personal items as allowed.

Thanks,
Phil

Taxis from the city to the airport are also fixed rate - 53€ from the Right Bank (which is where Gare du Nord is).

Count an additional 4€ if you call for a taxi when you want it to come for you,.or an additional 7€ if you call and reserve it in advance (the evening prior or a couple of days before, for example)..

You gan go on the website of G7 taxis, download their app, or call their English-speaking phone line.

What time does your Delta flight leave CDG?

This does NOT answer your question but most of the US-bound flights leave in the mid-morning range. At present I see the first US bound flight is to NYC at 830A. If you are on that one, well, maybe I'd stay at the airport but if you are in the 10A range for departure I'd definitely stay in Paris overnight and take a cab from my hotel to the airport, leaving around 6A. I'd hate to spend the whole afternoon with my luggage in Paris but your style may be different!

Kim - I was thinking it was the same 53 Euro price, but wasn't sure. I will get the app too. There has to be a taxi rank outside Gare du Nord for sure.

We were in Paris in 2015 and found the RER-B from CDG to Saint-Michel Notre-Dame to be just the ticket - pun intended! Is there something similar from Gare du Nord to a/the Metro/RER stop at CDG? If so from there we could take the CDGVAL to our hotel.

Thanks,
Phil

Since you already are arriving at Gare du Nord (by train, I assume), why not just go down to the lower level and take the RER train to CDG? 10.30 EUR per person. Are "we" more than 2 people?

"There has to be a taxi rank outside Gare du Nord for sure."

Yes, there is. Go to the official taxi rank which is to the far right as you get to the head of the train. There are big overhead signs. Do not go with anyone who asks if you want a taxi...just go get in the line. You'd not use the G7 app here although if you had it and managed to get into a G7 taxi you could pay for it thru the app while you are in the car.

With your amount of luggage I'd probably not want to take an RER although you will have just gotten off a train and had to manage it. Will you be able to stash your personal items in your carry on size bags so you only have 3 things to manage between the 2 of you?

DELTA leaves at 1115hrs

My thinking on this is to be close to CDG to make the on-boarding process easier.
Coming from a Paris hotel via whatever mode and being at check in 3 hours before departure is not what we want to do.

Looking at booking.com I see the hotels around CDG are on the CDGVAL shuttle route and should not take more than 30(?) minutes to go from a hotel close in to CDG. If I'm wrong about this please say.

Pam - For what I'm assuming will be the same 53€ this seems to make the most sense.
Chances are our personal items will not go into our carry on and there's the additional CPAP. From what I've read here all legitimate
taxis take credit cards so I'd not need the G7 app in this case, but still smart to have the app just in case.

Sam - Yes, we (2 persons) are arriving at Gare du Nord by train @1230hrs. If I were traveling alone the RER would be a no brainer.

Yes, surely it's your choice on where to stay and if it feels like it will work better to go to the airport, then by all means do.

I can not sleep soundly the night before a big flight plus I'm an early riser normally so the early taxi works for me where it doesn't work for others. I usually wake up at 330-4A on a flight day and have to twiddle my thumbs until a taxi picks me up about 6, hahaha.

I've gone out to CDG once on the RER from Gare du Nord and found it pretty crowded so I'd go with the taxi transfer with your luggage. Yes, you can certainly take a carry on and a personal item onto a Delta flight, it would just be awkward for me to get that onto the RER and not be distracted and possibly make myself a pickpocketing target, hence the taxi recommendation from me.

There are about 10 hotels on the CDG campus, some are right at the tram stop, others at least a 5 minute walk, but no hotel should take more than 30 minutes to the ticket counter.

Unlike Pam, I like to wake up at the airport for a morning flight. But since you'll be at GDN at midday the day before, no point in going out to the airport before evening. Instead, I'd suggest stashing your bags at the "left luggage" lockers at GDN, enjoying whatever Paris offers that afternoon, then returning for the bags and the RER B3 straight out to the airport and your hotel. You could take a taxi instead of the RER if you're willing to pay more to avoid handling the bags.

Several hotels within CDG itself. We stayed at the Ibis but I think there's a Sheraton, and Hilton, and others.

All the taxis are supposed to accept credit cards but some drivers will claim that their machine is broken.
It's a good idea to confirm with the driver before you get into the taxi.

The night before the flight back to SFO I always stay in hotel in CDG as my flight is sometime in the morning on Air France or United. Only took a taxi from Paris once but that was on the morning of the flight. No choice then.

The other times I took the RER no later than 9 PM to the 2 star hotel at CDG. There was a free shuttle the next morning to the airport. My hotel at Gare du Nord always stores the luggage regardless when I get there, likewise after check-out at 10 AM, then short before 9 PM pick it up before taking the RER to CDG.
