P2P Tickets in France ?

I have developed a comfort level about using P2P tickets and other specials for Germany, however France remains a bit of mystery. I'm also not fully understanding the SCNF website. I will be traveling from Basel to Colmar one day and then a few days later from Colmar to Paris. Depending on the routing the Colmar to Paris route includes a TGV segment. With 3 people riding, what will I experience as a walk-up ticket buyer for a route like this ? Will I regret not buying in advance ?

The railpass per person per day rate for a 3 day France pass is $80USD or $240USD for the 3 of us.

The fare for Basel-Colmar is €11.40. No discount for advance purchase.

The walk-up fare for Colmar-Mulhouse Ville on a regional train and from there to Paris on a Corail train is €53.50. A Prem's fare booked well in advance (up to 90 days allowed) is as low as €27. That route takes 5hr23min.

The walk-up fare for a route via Strasbourg including a TGV from Strasbourg to Paris is €72.40. The lowest Prem's fare is €32.20. That route takes a little over three hours.
