Can i buy one oyster card and use it for travel for two people while in London.

Not if you're traveling on the tube at the same time. Each person has to touch in and out.

The Oyster cards are so convenient and cost effective. If you don't use up your card alotment, you can turn it in for credit when you are about to leave London.

If you want to get a refund at the end of your trip, only use cash for all you Oyster card transactions. I know people who used a mixture of cash and credit cards for their Oyster card, and they never got their money back at the end of the trip.

As far as getting money/credit back, I woud suggest you ask the agent when purchasing the Oyster cards. We have always used our Capital One credit card. We got credit refunds three years in a row (2009 - 2011).
