Hello. I am trying to book a reservation on an overnight train for the evening of June 12, 2008, departing from Munich to Prague. I have tried to navigate my way through the suggessted websites from rick steves tips, but can't seem to figure out how to make a reservation in advance. Also, I have not seen any that do not have at least 1,2, or 3 stops changes involved. It seems like there should be an overnight train that we can take w/o having to wake-up in the middle of the night to change trains! I assume I am reading this all incorrectly. Thanks in advance!
I believe that the closest an overnight train to Prague comes to Munich is Dresden, and you have to take hours of regular trains to get to Dresden for a few hours on the night train. However, there are a few direct daytime trains to Prague. You can use a Bayern-Ticket to the Czech border and a €20 Anschluss ticket (purchased from DB in Munich) from there to Prague.
