Overnight Train from Florence to Spiez

Hello Everyone:

We are thinking of taking an overnight train from Florence to Spiez (ultimate heading is Gimmelwald via Interlaken). Anyway, if we take the overnight train from Florence, which departs at 23:00, will we have to transfer to another train during the trip? For example, is there a transfer in Milan? Our hope is to sleep all the way until we get to Spiez. But if there are transfers invovlved, we are afraid that we might sleep through them. If that is the case, we might opt to take a train in the morning. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is a direct night train. To see this for yourself, go to www.bahn.de and click on "Internat. Guests" to view the site in English. Enter Firenze (not Florence) as your departure point and Spiez as your arrival point. After you get summary timetables, click on "Details for all" to see connecting points, if any, for all routes. For even more detail, click on "Show intermediate stops" for each individual route.
