We are considering spending a couple of nights in Berlin before our RS Best of Scandinavia in 14 days tour. We are looking at all the various ways to get from Berlin to Stockholm to start our tour. We are very much intrigued by the overnight train from Berlin to Stockholm. Has anyone ever taken this train and can comment on pros and cons? Thanks in advance.
Here is what The Man in Seat 61 says about the options for getting from Berlin to Stockholm. It appears there is more than one overnight train option.

Correct, but please note that the Snälltåget train only carries 6-berth couchette cars and no "real" sleepers.
It saves you a night in hotel and is an efficient way to get between Stockholm and Berlin. There are as mentioned two night trains on the route. SJ runs a train that departs more or less daily in both directions, and Snälltåget runs during peak season, and not always daily.
The advantage of SJ is that they have sleepers in the train, Snälltåget only have couchettes. Snälltåget on the other hand has a nice restaurant car in the train, SJ has a bistro car while the train is in Sweden, and a small onboard kiosk for the German part of the trip.
There are of course youtube reviews of the trains:
