Overnight train (Elipsos) from Paris to Barcelona

I was told that the cheapest way to travel via this train is to buy a pass (in order to get the Passholder Fare). From Euro Railways' website, I clicked on "2 countries Passes" and noticed the "Saverpass - 1st class" at USD349.00 each. On the "options & fares" page, the First Class Double Cabin - Passholder Fare is at USD 194.00 each. Does that mean we add the two amounts together? We will be going in early September. Will greatly appreciate for some advice & suggestions. Thanks May Chan

Who told you that? Rail passes typically don't save people money anymore. And yes, you'll have to buy the pass for $349 and the cabin for $194. Instead, consider a 2nd class couchette for I'll guess a lot less money.

I couldn't check prices on Renfe (the Spanish site), but TGV-europe is selling tickets on the Trenhotel from Paris to Barcelona, 2 people in a double first-class compartment, for 139 euros each (dates in late July; september may not be available yet.) Total 278 euros for two of you.

If you purchase the ticket from Tgv.com, like Lola said you can get a mini à deux or duo ticket for 278 euros. If you want to make sure to get that price, buy them in advance, you can do so 90 days prior to your trip. Select Canada as your country and they will deliver the ticktets to your home for free.

To get the €278 mini à deux fare book on tgv-europe.com (Lola), not tgv.com (Martine) and choose Canada as your country of residence. On tgv.com you will be diverted to Rail Europe no matter what English-speaking country you choose as your residence and you won't be offered discount fares.
