We will be overnighting in both Florence & Siena (November). I know it is very easy to get to Siena by bus, which is my preference as it is a beautiful trip through the countryside and you get dropped at a great spot!What is new to me is the easy way to Lucca & Pisa. Via Florence or Siena? We just want to do day trips to Lucca & Pisa.

Day trips are easier from Florence, but can also be done from Siena. There are direct trains between Florence and both Pisa and Lucca, which makes the travel time shorter. There's also a train between Pisa and Lucca if you want to combine the 2 towns into 1 day trip. I did that a few years ago, but had to be mindful of schedules to make it work smoothly. Trains from Siena require a change in Empoli, which adds about an hour of travel time each way.
