What is the difference between the double seat compartment and 2 bed compartment? In either case do the doors lock?

2 single seats or 2 single beds. the door locks.

Thanks Barry. Does that mean that the double seat reclines like a bed? What is the comfort difference?

I'll venture a guess--and it's only a guess. The diagram on the Trenitalia site shows beds for either the double seat compartment or the two-bed compartment. Since the fare for the double seat compartment is higher, I'm guessing that the compartment is a bit bigger and has more comfortable seating when the beds aren't in use.
