Our family tickets only have one name.

The family tickets we've booked on Trentalia only have the name of the purchaser. We need all our names on the tickets for Visa purposes, but there doesn't seem to be a way to edit the ticket. Can anyone help? Our Visa appointment is in two days.

Visa (with a capital V) is a credit card company. A visa, for travel, does not have a capital v. I believe you "Visa appointment" is for travel documents. For what country? I don't think there is any way to get all of your names on the ticket. Call the embassy or consulate where you have your appointment to make sure you need all the names on the ticket.

Thanks for the reply Lee. Yes, my typo, it's for our travel permit to France. We will call them, but I'm sure they require our names. I've tried to access the page to change tickets but keep getting the message that it is unavailable.

I would think you would be OK as long as you show the correct number of tickets. Second, I am sure the visa person knows that it is standard practice in Europe with railroad tickets to list only the name of the purchaser. The rail company do not care who uses the ticket as long as you have the correct ticket. Airline tickets are a different situation since each name is checked against a no-fly list. The only way to obtain a name on each ticket is to have purchased each ticket separately. Where are you coming from that requires a visa?

And if you bought Super Econ or Economy tickets from Trenitalia, then there is no changing. A condition of sale. That is why you get the message that it is not available.

When I purchase an online Bahn ticket, to be sent to me as a .pdf file to print at home, my name is on it, along with the last four digits of my credit card, so the conductors can make sure I didn't print to copies and sell one. But when I buy a ticket at the counter, it just says the start and end points, the route, the number of people, and the train number (and I don't even have to take that train). There is no name on it. I'm pretty sure that's the same way with tickets ordered online and mailed - no names at all.

And what if you were using rail passes. They would have names on them, but no destinations. How would they know where you were going.

I don't see how a visa examiner can expect any names to be on your tickets.

If you are flying into Paris, just tell them you are staying in Paris all the time and don't need any tickets.

Q: are you sure you need a visa for Europe?

A: Depends on nationality. For visa exempt, see:

*bearers of biometric passports only
nationals of the following countries: Australia, Brazil, United States, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Venezuela. If you are gainfully employed, the exemption only applies if you can produce a work permit;

Lee, I see a mistake in this post! :}

Don't just say you see a mistake with the post. State what it is so I can counter your allegations.

The point is that anyone can purchase tickets from a ticket counter, or from an automat, or even online, and they will not have a name attached to them. The name on a ticket proves nothing.

I certainly hope it was a joke pointing out the homophone.

People make mistakes all the time. On the other hand, if you were really concerned that he might be embarrassed if he were to find the wrong word, you could send a private message. I hope you have some sort of running joke going between the two of you.

Bets,
I put a smiley face after my post. He pointed out the OPs error. Yes, we do make mistakes and that is my point. I don't care if people make mistakes. It is my mistake trying to make a point with a smiley face at the end!
