Oslo taxi from airport - credit card?

Hi We are flying in to Oslo and might want to take a taxi from the airport to downtown near the palace park. I know that taxis are expensive but we unfortunately will have two large bags and are not sure about taking the train and transferring to a taxi downtown to get to our hotel. I have hear it might be $150 for a taxi. Does anyone know if the taxis take credit cards. Thanks,
Judy

We have NOT taken a taxi in Oslo or to/from the OSL airport because the trains and/or SAS Flybussen works so well. If you are going to a downtown Oslo destination, the SAS Flybussen has several downtown stops and my have a stop near your hotel. If you take the train, express or otherwise, the Oslo S train station would be a longer walk but is served by taxis. You may want to ask your hotel for advice.

The Flytoget train works so well, and there's plenty of luggage space in each carriage. Realize, this isn't a commuter train, where you'll need to maneuver through crowds of people to find an empty seat. It's a special train that serves airline passengers. The luggage racks are even located by the doors, so you can deposit your bags as soon as you enter the train. Unless you're hauling steamer trunks, I doubt you'll have trouble. Are you staying at Hotel Continental? If so, the train station sits right across the street.

The article linked to above is quite excellent, but it's lengthy. To answer the specific question directly, here's the relevant excerpt: All taxis accept Visa and MasterCard, and the card should be swiped in the meter at the start of the journey for card validation. The driver will usually keep the card on top of the meter so that you can keep an eye on it. If you are uncomfortable with this, it is possible to ask to get the card back, but the card needs to be swiped again when you arrive at your destination. Most meters are just swipe and sign, but some companies have EMV chip terminals where you'll need to authorize the charge with your PIN. There have been no known scams connected to credit card fraud in taxis.
