Orlando Airport flight transfer.

We were going to Key West from SeaTac. Cheapest fare routed us with a 50 minute stopover in Orlando. What could go wrong?
Well. We arrived at the gate 15 minutes late and discovered we had to leave one terminal and reenter another. There is no secure passageway. It took over an hour to get through security at the second terminal. Missed the connection.

If you're ever routed through Orlando, ask lots of questions!

  • Did you make your itinerary via the airline directly or some 3rd
    party?

  • How long did you have to wait at Orlando until you got on another
    flight to Key West?

  • May I assume it was one itinerary as opposed to 2 separate
itineraries? If it were the latter, your second flight would not be
    a connecting flight.

Interesting.

The 2 times I flew to Key West, one transfer was Tampa, the other at ATL.

For all the times I have been through MCO, it was always as the destination or origin, never a transfer. Never paid attention to transferring from one terminal to another, but did not think one had to exit and re enter through security.

What airline did you use?

Just looked at expedia for SEA-EYW and the one flight booking that went via MCO has a 76 minute layover. ( 2 stop, 3 flight itinerary)

I suspect OP did a 'frankenstein' booking, i.e. separate bookings, for SEA-MCO and then MCO-EYW , and sounds like maybe had to retrieve luggage and re-check it.(?)

Well my question for OP is, what/how did you book your flight(s).?

Without knowing what you did, its hard for anyone else to avoid your misadventure.
