I want to fly into Paris, take the Eurostar to London, and then fly out of London the middle of July. I've started checking fares on the websites mentioned here. Any advice is appreciated. Is there a way to be informed about good deals or do I need to constantly check the sites? I'm pretty flexable about which day I will fly in and out. Is there any certain day of the week that has a lower fare?
There is a new station in London for the Eurostar - St. Pancras opened this past Wednesday.
St. Pancras is next to Kings Cross on the north end of London.
The train now takes only 2 hours 15 minutes (prior it was 3 hours 15 minutes)
Typically lower prices are mid-week. Monday thru Thursday.
For July you will want to book early. Try www.sidestep.com - this will save you in checking every website. Plus you can register for fare updates.
For the Eurostar - you should book about 1 month out to get the lowest fare - typically around 67.50 Euros oneway per person in 2nd class.
Note that there is a one hour time difference between London and Paris.
Keep in mind that July is the peak travel time and few discounts will be available from the airlines. There are fare watch web sites that will allow you to track and notify you of changes in prices. But I have never had any success with them. The hot fare becomes available at one or two in the morning, I get notified, and by the time I log on at 7 or 8 the fare is gone. Others may have had a better experience.
