Open Jaw London and Venice

Our original plan was to fly into London and fly out of Amsterdam. Is it generally more expensive to fly into London and fly out of Venice? More complicated?

Yes it is more expensive. UK flights have added on xtra environmental airport fee over other european cities. it works about $100 xtra from Calif to London. Generally Venice is also pricey but the time saved maybe worthwhile and in the end cost effective. it depends on you. run the diff scenarios with your favorite aairlines then ck w/ a consolidator like www.autoeurope.com for a quote.

Venice is farther away from the US than Amsterdam; the greater distance could make Venice more expensive, all other things being equal, but of course all other things are never equal in the real world. You'll want to price both options.

One added expense in Venice can be the cost to the airport. If you're departing early in the morning, you may be limited to a water taxi. Those can be quite expensive to the airport. I think they were around 90EUR, but I could be off. For that reason, we took a train to Verona (9EUR/ea for 1st class on Regional) and flew out of Verona the next morning. The cab fare to the airport was 25EUR for the two of us and took 15 minutes. We also saved 20EUR for the night in Verona compared with the night being in Venice. Plus, we got to see another city.
But which airline you fly may make a difference too, since we were going Air France the entire trip and they've got a Regional flight out of Verona. Another option could be Milan which is a little more major than Verona.

We flew into Venice and took the water taxi to San Marco square. It was 13 ueros.I believe that they go to the airport very early in the morning so I think a eaarly flight is not a problem.I think Ricks book talks about this
