Online train schedule

I have a question that may sound stupid. I was researching train times from Paris Est to Interlaken Ost on June 25, 2009 07:00 from two websites - SBB (Swiss rail I guess) and DB BAHN. For some reasons, DB BAHN doesn't show the 8:24 train out of Paris Est and SBB doesn't show the 7:24 train. I'm really confused. Am I missing something? Please advise. Cool ok thanks. So it's probably best to check train schedules and finalize my itinerary after June 14 then.

Particularly interesting in that for May 21, both websites show both connections.

Also for June 11, but not June 18.

Schedules are updated sometime in June. I wonder if this has something to do with projecting schedule that have yet to be released.

The DB site shows current timetables through 13 June. New timetables throughout Europe will go into effect on 14 June. When each country's national rail site releases its new timetables, DB will show them.

You're welcome. If my memory serves me correctly, the new timetables should be uploaded by early in May.

Ali, you can get a very good idea of train schedules by looking at the current schedules. True the new schedules will be updated in mid-June but most will not change or will change ever so slightly.

Hi Tim,

Just curious. Where did you find such information? Thanks.

New timetables are issued twice a year (in June and December). Sometimes the DB timetables show the specific date. In this case I found the date on the Swiss Rail site. I entered a dummy date and route and the site showed that the timetables given were good through 12 June.

Ali,

Schedules for Saturdays and/or Sundays can be different from those for weekdays. Enter 7 June as your departure date on the DB site and you'll see complete timetables for that date. As Larry said above, the new timetables that will take effect the following week probably won't vary by more than a few minutes, if at all.

Another related question - I plan to train from Gimmelwald (Interlaken Ost) to Vernazza on Sunday, 28.06.09. When I tried to search for the connections online for the mentioned date, both DB Bahn and SBB reported no connections. However, if I changed to another Sunday, 07.06.09, the sites would give me good results. Is this another time table incident? Can I assume that they will have similar services on 28.06 as well? Basically just want to make sure that traveling on Sundays isn't an issue. Thanks in advance.

Hi Ali,

I made a similar trip to that (just to Riomaggiore). The thing is that if you did a search to La Spezia or Levento, which are the towns immediately on either end of the Cinque Terre, you will see pretty accurate train schedules because those are major towns.

Within the Cinque Terre itself, the towns that get the most train trips are Riomaggiore and Monterosso as those are the two biggest ones. The middle towns (Manarola, Corniglia, and Vernazza) are serviced by small regional trains that have different hours based on the day of the week.

If I were you, I would search a train trip first to La Spezia or Levento, and then once you have that, get a time from that town to Vernazza as you probably need to switch trains to get there anyways.
