I am going to Barcelona from Nice in May and would like to fly. The RT tickets are $700-$800 less than the one-way tickets. Is there any reason why I should not book a RT flight but only use the front half of it?

Just FYI....the Spanish discount airline, Vueling, flies Nice-Barcelona for under 100 Euro, all in. There's only one flight a day, and it's a late one...but it might be worth considering.

Hi, Kathy. Usually, in the contract the airline reserves to charge you the full one way fare if you do not use the ticket properly. Very rare. Only seen it happen a couple of times, but it's there. Just an FYI.

Just buy the RT ticket, then after you've traveled, call the airline and cancel the return trip. That way, the airline can resell the seat. People do this all the time. The airline can't say anything, because peoples' plans change.
