I am planning to fly from Nashville TN to Venice IT around 18 February, one way. Any tip on online tickets? I have found cheap rates at Vayama/Cheapoair/Cheapair...but I am not sure....

A year. I am Italian, so it should not be an issue...and, anyways, for some reason, I always get stopped. Any idea of what airline offers the best prices?

I found a good deal on expedia, one way, but only if I break down the travel Nashville/jfk, then JFK/Venice and buy 2 tickets. Is there any cons in doing that, apart for the luggage charge and limitation?

On www.kayak.com I find a $790 RT for $790 and a one way is about double that. By all means go for the RT and throw away the return.
