One-way car rental from Bath to York, England

RS suggests renting car in Bath and dropping off in York, yet I can't find a rental company willing to do this. Thrifty does one-way but does not have office in York. Enterprise does not do one-way. Avis office needs a rental car just to get to rental car office outside of Bath! Help!

AutoEurope allows one-way rentals between downtown Bath and downtown York. As a consolidator, AE finds you the best rate from among the companies with which it has contracts. Go to www.autoeurope.com.

Along these lines, make sure your car rental office is in downtown Bath. Some car rentals are outside town which you need a ride or a taxi to take you to the office. Mrs. Toalster, Woodville B&B told me this.
I am also planning on renting a car in Bath and possibly dropping off in York since we are advised NOT to drive in York. Any suggested B&B's to stay in York if we can drop off the rental car here.
My question is: What is the cost to take the train from York back to London. Would we take a train to Heathrow or is there a train to Paddington Station. Our B&B is close to this station. Thanks to all who have helped me on several topics on the helpline.

Miss B,

The only trains at Heathrow are Tube trains (London Underground).

Trains from York to London arrive at King's Cross Station. Walk-up fares are very expensive (70-90 GBP). Booked 30-60 days in advance at www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com, fares can be under 30 GBP. Book over the phone if you don't succeed in registering on the site.
