I recall a recent notice on bahn.de regarding closures on a major track line into Frankfurt. It was attributed to vandalism. This may be the explanation.

we get it a lot in England too
We have had whole, vacant hours stripped of their copper pipe. It is a problem.
I am a bit worried now. Gutters, rainpipes etc.. are all copper on our house. But otoh Wengen is hard to transport your loot from.
Regarding that "vandalism" incident: My nice was on its way from Belgium to Switzerland that day. She ended up being an hour later than expected. If you run lots of trains over lots of routes the system still manages to get everyone to their destination.
Thanks for posting Lola. Copper theft has been a problem in Boston and the suburbs for several years.
I was on a Eurostar train from St Pancras to Gare du Nord in 2015, I think, and we had a delay of 101 minutes. The train staff said it was from theft of copper wiring on the main higher speed route in France.
While I had allowed myself flex time of a day or so before the start of my RS tour, I learned never to cut things closely with regard to transportation.
