What a wonderful, inexpensive way to go to all the towns along the Med. We rented a condo for 10 nights in Nice, through Riviera Pebbles website and did not need a car. It was very easy to take the bus to Monaco, Eze, Antibes, etc. Loved it!
Gale: Thanks for the info. Was there anything you couldnt do; any town you wanted to visit that you couldnt; any suggestions for someone who may want to do what you did
Brian, we were able to use the bus system to all the Riviera towns. Almost every young person seems to speak and understand English so if we had a question about which bus or the timetable, we just asked someone standing near us. Everyone was very helpful. Riding the bus is much more relaxing than fighting the traffic, looking for parks but the best part is how much money you save because every ride (which includes 1 transfer) is only 1 euro. According to the locals, it wasn't this cheap several years ago, but the 1 euro fare was begun to reduce traffic in the cities and on the roads. The only bus that cost a little more was the Nice airport bus but it is still very reasonable. Just get Rick's book "Provence and the French Riviera" for the best tips.
Gale. Thanks. i will definitely add that to my travel plans. have been looking for a conveneint way to do something like that
