Any suggestions on this??? National rail.co.uk site refused bank credit card and then a credit union card for Edinburgh to London. Called our bank, they say problem is on the UK end. Tried to phone National Rail & just get busy signal.
Thank you for your ideas on how to deal with this.
Try booking at www.eastcoast.co.uk. Booking up to about ten weeks in advance can get you a great discount fare (subject to availability).
Anne & Andy, I recently booked an Endburgh - London trip on East Coast Rail, using the link on the Man in Seat 61 website. I initially had a few problems, but after some calls to the number provided on the website, it was all sorted. The first problem was my fault, as I entered the incorrect Verified by Visa password. The second problem was a "computer technical issue. The rep. from East Coast Rail suggested clearing the Cache and Cookies, and the transaction went through without any problems after that. If you're calling the U.K., it's important to note the time difference. The website provided one number for calls from 08:00-17:00 and a different number for calls from 17:00-23:00. Good luck!
I was going to suggest time, too. It looks like the message was posted around 3pm PDT which is around 11pm in the UK. If there was any problem with the system in the UK it is unlikely that the tech support would be on the spot - or there may have been a maintenance happening... Have you tried again in UK daylight?
Thank you Tim, Ken and Nigel for your replies.
Contacted by telephone from the US 011 44 8457 225 225 to reach National Rail to book an East Coast railroad for an Edinburgh to London Kings Cross tickets. Call hours 0800 to 1700 UK time. We were told that our on line credit card rejection was the result of a glitch in their computer system that they are attempting to correct.
