OMIO App won't allow me to cancel a train ticket...

Has anyone had trouble canceling a Eurostar train ticket in the OMIO App? I've tried everything, even the online chat, no luck. The issue is I bought a ticket from London to Rotterdam, but it has a stop in Brussels, and I see that Eurostar has a direct train on the day I am traveling and I would rather be on that direct route.

Can I buy the new ticket and then potentially have 2 tickets for that day, or will this cause a problem when I check in for my train?

I can't cancel it through Eurostar, since I purchased it with OMIO, a rookie mistake, but hey, it happens sometimes.

Thank for any advice from your train experts out there.

Is the ticket refundable? Most cheap tickets are not refundable, and in that case you can't get a refund, no matter where you bought it.

Anyway, having two tickets is not an issue, You will be a no show for one, that is all.

Note that the direct London - Rotterdam train has a stop in Brussels as well. You can of course stay on the train.

Do you mean your ticket has a change in Brussels? A “stop” doesn’t imply a “change”. If it’s just a stop then stay on the train.

And do you have a refundable ticket?

can you be a little more specific about the problem please?

The nature of trains is that they stop at stations along the way.

You'd expect that a train from London to Rotterdam will stop first on some trains at LIlle, then all will stop at Brussels (Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles Midi) and Rotterdam. If you mean that you change trains at Brussels, that's no hassle. Get off, walk to the other platform and wait for the train taking you the last leg. Depending on which train they put you on it may have a half dozen stops on the way, some or all of Brussel Centraal, Brussel Nord, Antwerpen Centraal, Breda or Rosenthal, Dordrecht and Rotterdam...

could you be clearer on precisely what you want?

Hey guys, thanks for your responses, and sorry I was vague in my post.

I bought a train ticket through the OMIO App, I see now I should have just gone straight to the Eurostar website, but what is done is done. It is for a Eurostar from London to Brussels, transfer to a regional train in Brussels and then on to Rotterdam.

I have a Flex-type ticket and should be able to either change it or be partially refunded, but again, the OMIO App times out or "craps out" when I try to do this. The AI customer service is no help, and there is no phone number to call.

I have a transfer in Brussels, but I see on the Eurostar website that there is a faster direct train from London to Rotterdam, which I would like to travel on instead of the Eurostar to Brussels, with a transfer to a regional train to Rotterdam.

I will be traveling solo, so I just want to make this process easier and avoid waiting around in Brussels for an hour.

I tried to cancel the ticket on the Eurostar website for the first portion of the journey, but it won't let me since I used the OMIO App.

I looked into it and if I just "eat" the money from the first ticket, I can just buy the direct ticket and the original ticket will just be a no show? Is this true even if I already have the first portion of the ticket on the same train? I don't want to have an issue when I show up to the station in London.

I hope this is more clear, thanks again for the responses.

No, it doesn't matter one jot if you are a 'no show' for your original ticket. No one is keeping count, in that respect (among many) rail traffic is unlike air travel.

If your plan is to take the same train, but just stay on it till Rotterdam then see if you can buy a Brussel - Rotterdam ticket for that train. AFAIK London - Amsterdam Eurostars can pick up passengers in Brussel.

No they can't. If you look at the Eurostar booking system, and note the train numbers for the London to Amsterdam trains and their times at Brussels, then look to book a Brussels to Rotterdam ticket you will see that you can't book such a ticket on an ex London train, only on a Eurostar Red (formerly Thalys) train from Paris to Amsterdam.
So it would be a change between trains at Brussels in any event.

I guess I can't see the reason to throw away a perfectly good train ticket just because it involves a very simple connection.

Its odd that Eurostar won't book ex-Brussels on Eurostars coming from London. There are normally no reasons to do so, as everyone on the train will have cleared immigration in London, and in Brussel the train thus just stops in the domestic part of the station. Not accepting passengers means they miss on some potential revenue...

WengenK and isn31c:

I did try to look that up on Eurostar and the Train numbers were different, I thought if I could just buy the leg from Brussels to Rotterdam on the same Eurostar train it would make sense. But isn31c is correct, it's a different train number, although it leaves at the same time from London, so who knows...

I think I'm just going to stick with my original ticket and make the transfer in Brussels, not a big deal, just an hour longer, and the added effort of getting off and on the train shouldn't be a big deal.

I wish that the OMIO App would work, so I could cancel the ticket.

I will never use that app again to buy train tickets, I do not recommend it.

If its a different train number, but the same departure time, then it is the same train.
You cannot have two trains leave at the same time. But you can have (and it is not uncommon) one train having multiple numbers...

WengenK-That's what I assumed too, but I'm not sure which train to choose from Brussels to Rotterdam to stay on the same train. I may just go to the train station in London one day when we have a free afternoon and see what I can figure out with a ticket agent.

Either way, I've got my ticket, so I know I'll get there.

Thanks for your responses.

Looking at next Monday the morning London to Rotterdam no change trains are-
0616 arrive 1032 Train 9106
0816 arrive 1232 Train 9114
1106 arrive 1532 Train 9126

Leaving train numbers aside Eurostar do NOT have departures you can book from Brussels arriving at Rotterdam at any of those times, instead you have a 30 minute change of trains in Brussels on the 1st two (or 90 minute change on the 1106).

The same is true on SNCB International (Belgian Railways) so it is pretty clear that the London to Amsterdam trains can not be booked for journeys starting in Brussels to the Netherlands. Whether that should be so is a different question.
There are however other EuroCity or Euro City direct trains between Brussels and Rotterdam- one per hour of each.

@ isn31c: Yes, I looked it up on the Eurostar app, and it clearly states that Train 9126 does not take on new passengers in Brussels or Rotterdam. I'm still not sure if I will be able to talk to a ticket agent in London and see if I can extend my ticket to be direct to Rotterdam, but it's worth a try. Either way, I have a ticket to get where I need to go, so I should be ok.

Thanks again for your response and happy travels!
