Oktoberfest Grounds

Yes.

In 2007, on my way from MUC to Oberammergau, I put my bags in a locker at the Hbf and walked to Theresienwiese (Therese's Meadow, the Oktoberfest grounds). I can't remember how many blocks it was, maybe six, but it was not a bad walk at all.

There is also a U-Bahn stop for Theresienwiese on the U4/U5 lines. It's one stop from the Hbf. The station is under the street just outside of the south door of the Hbf. If you are already using a Bayern-Ticket or an MVV Tageskarte, you'll be covered.

I walked right past Hotel Uhland.

We are thinking of making a quick stop on our way to Salzburg. We just want to see and experiance it's the 200th anniversary.

It is maybe a 15 minute walk. Not far from the station at all.
