What date are you looking for? I tried a dummy date in May and it shows tickets available.

Maybe you just picked the wrong date. On OeBB it says,

fährt nicht täglich; fährt 15. Mai bis 4. Aug 2018

"Doesn't run daily"

I picked an entire week in May and many dates in June and on oebb.at booking site it shows the schedule, but says tickets unavailable.

Aha, you didn't say that! It hasn't disappeared ("it shows the schedule"), it is just that you are too far into the future to buy tickets. Usually you cannot buy tickets more than 3 months in advance.

which doesn't make sense, as one can buy tickets on the OBB NJ from Venice in July, and I could buy these same tickets last week (but didn't have plans finalized yet). I also cannot buy tickets for march or april dummy dates either and that is within 60 days. I wonder if this train is being stopped?

If it was being stopped, it wouldn't show in the timetable. They don't just stop and start trains, they are agreed contractually between the companies on whose tracks they run. Timetables are fixed and change once per year in December, with some minor changes in June each year for the summer.

thank you. It seems very unusual. Especially as I cannot make a booking for even March. Maybe they are making adjustments. I will check again on Monday.

yes, 6 months. So that's why i am inquiring about this strange "not available." I have sent an email to oebb.aat.

you have to click through a number of screens, to show how many, which class, what time, what kind of sleeping accommodation, or none, etc. You may have clicked a type of accommodation not available or not with your class of ticket, or not on that particular train, etc.

The Oebb website is not as easy as it once was. Back in the day it would have been done in two screens....

cannot click thru the screens anymore--showing "tickets not available" for any price. Same for every date I try in March and April as well. Last week, I had priced a 4 person couchette for 248 euros for 26/ june.

It will be interesting to see what OeBB says. The earlier NJ from Venezia Maeste to Munich is available (although you would also need a ticket for an Italian train to Padova to catch it).

For what it's worth, tickets do seem to be available on the Bahn website.

When I tried it, the dummy date I used was May 24 and it showed schedule and ticket prices but when I got deeper into it, it looked like there were coach seats available and some couchettes, but sleepers were unavailable, apparently already sold out. I suppose it's possible the dates you chose are sold out. Otherwise I'm not sure.

tickets are back up for purchase. when I buy online at oebb.at (official Austrian train website), it is an Eticket? can I print out at home?

If you can buy on Bahn.com then do so. If I recall, reservations are free there and the ticket price was lower. DO NOT assume that the 3 national systems, Italy, Austria, and Germany are selling tickets at the SAME PRICE for the same train, they almost certainly are not.
