Norwegian cancelled my April and May flights into Paris and out of Rome back on March 14th.
I followed their online instructions and applied for refunds that same day and received the automatic response that the request had been received.
My question is whether anyone has actually received the promised refunds from Norwegian.
I'm not looking for advice on what to do now. I'm willing to wait if they are actually processing their claims but I don't want to clog their system with questions. And I know that I can also appeal through my credit card.
So, IF you have received any refund, I'd love to hear about it!
Thanks! And stay well!
I don’t know about Norwegian Air, but Lufthansa told us it would be at least 15 business days.
The European governments appear to be pushing cancellations on airlines, accommodations and even museums to be fully repaid if requested. I got a note yesterday that Auschwitz has closed down, and a credit will be sent to my credit card voluntarily.
It just doesn't feel like tourism is going to be back to normal anytime soon.
Norwegian Air Shuttle has had its share of working capital problems, but I pray the current virus situation doesn't put another nail in their coffin. We need competition to keep down the price of world travel to where we can afford to go.
My flight with Norwegian was cancelled 3/14. I filed for a refund the same day. On 3/15 I disputed the charge on my credit card because I only had a few days left on the 60 day dispute timeframe. I have a “conditional” credit from my credit card company. I’m assuming it will be permanent, have no idea how long Norwegian takes to refund. Wasn’t willing to take a chance. Have heard zero from them since 3/14.
Thanks everybody.
I'm still hoping to hear from someone who has received a refund... but maybe no one has?
I'll update this when I find out anything more.
My flight from Boston to Rome was also cancelled on March 14. I requested a refund but still have not received it. It’s been much too long.
I just received an email today from Norwegian saying that my refund has been processed and will appear in my original form of payment, which for me is my credit card.
So don't despair...
Very good news Sharyn!
SharYn you still may need to have a bit of patience. We’ve been waiting for a refund from 4 Hamilton tickets. SFBroadway issued the refund on the 13th of April and now we’ve learned that it may take 30+ days to show up as a refund on our cc. I think you are almost there though with your refund.
Norwegian cancelled our April Paris flights on March 14th. I submitted my refund request that same day. I’m still waiting for a response. On April 7th they sent an email to confirm that I did not want to request a 125% credit. I reconfirmed that I wanted a refund and was issued a new issue number. At that point I panicked that following their directions kicked me back to the end of the refund request line, but was assured that I kept my place. It’ll be 7 weeks on Saturday. I’m hoping I get a confirmation email from them soon. As soon as I receive something I’ll reach back out to this thread!
Thanks Susan and Mona.
Bethanie, my friend received the same second email (I never got that one) asking for clarification that you did. He also said he wanted a refund, not an enhanced credit, and received the same email that I did late last night.
So don't give up yet! It's been 7 weeks for me also.
At least we know that we are in the queue.
And Mona, friends and I had Hamilton tickets also, but purchased through Goldstar. We just opted for a Goldstar credit and figure that when theaters open up again we will all pick a play and see something together. Hopefully you'll get your refund before too long.
I try to have patience as I realize what an absolute nightmare this is for so many businesses.
Now, if my unemployment insurance will just come through...
So here is my promised update --
Norwegian has refunded one of my flights, SFO to CDG.
The return flight, FCO to SFO, was booked a week later than the first, so I am hoping that this second flight refund will show up in a week or so.
As you might imagine, I am very pleased. It took 7 weeks, but it did come through!
I hope that any of you waiting for any refunds have a positive outcome as well.
Norwegian must be getting caught up. It took less than a week from the time they cancelled my flight (6/30) until the time my card was credited (7/4). All I had to do was fill out the online form, which I did the morning I received the cancellation. Very easy, very quick!
I had a flight scheduled from CDG to DEN on Norwegian in April that was cancelled. Still waiting on my refund. I have received confirmation that I would get a refund but I still haven’t received the actual funds. Same story goes for my refund from Virgin Atlantic but I do get regular correspondence that they have approved and our processing my refund request. What a year.
After Norwegian announced they were suspending their international flights through next April, our group of 8 had a deadline to cancel or defer tour plans, so we postponed the trip one year and cancelled the flights in May. No word/response until after the flight dates (late August) when I called in and asked for a status update (we'll "double" your request he said, assured me of refund).
Yesterday, via email, Norwegian now claiming they didn't actually cancel the flights until after May, so no refund or voucher! Of course, the rep couldn't actually say when the flights were 'cancelled'.
Both late August and this week, hold time to get to a live rep was minimal; they seem well-staffed, but the representatives may not be much help.
