Norwegian Air and Skyscanner

Has anyone here flown Norwegian Air JFK -Gatwick? I'm seeing a price of $3321 direct round trip for 4 August 7-21. I guess my question is about the airline as well as Skyscanner. Thank you. Planning families first trip to Europe ever for this summer and this price seems fantastic for summer. This forum was a tremendous help when I first decided to take the family and now it's go-no go decision making time.

Norwegian has grown quickly to become number three in volume among Europe's budget airlines, behind Ryanair and easyJet. Neither of the leaders operates long trans-Atlantic flights so this is new ground (well, ocean) for the sector.
Skyscanner resembles Kayak and other on-line travel agencies which provide links to sellers but don't issue the tickets themselves. It has good access to the European budget carriers. You can go straight to Norwegian to buy your ticket. http://www.norwegian.com/us/flight/lowfare/?D_City=JFK&A_City=LGW&D_Day=04&D_Month=201408&D_SelectedDay=04&R_Day=21&R_Month=201408&R_SelectedDay=21&CurrencyCode=USD
This is a brand new service on a new B787. It operates three times a week so you will not be flying Aug. 4. Basic price at the start of August is shown as $829, plus $59 for an advance seat reservation, one checked bag and a meal. That's how no-frills airlines operate. Read the rules on the website carefully.
It sounds like a good price during high season for trans-Atlantic travel, but it is a much longer flight than the low-cost lines I've used in Europe.

Guy,

I fly solo, so if you divvy out that total by the number of flyers, it come out < 1K United States Dollars for the trip. and in my opinion, not bad. but as mentioned read the fine print. Since i fly out of the west coast, thats a really good deal for me, but i dont know what it is for a East Coast hop.

Also, you can go onto Norwegians web site and plug n chug the same dates/seats/times and see what pops out.

as far as Skyscanner goes, i use them all the time along with some other flight search engines.

happy trails.

We also use Skyscanner a lot, usually for finding flights within Europe. Again with a west-coast perspective, I have no idea of east-coast prices, but under $1,000 per person in high season sounds good!
