Norwegian Air

Anyone have experiences flying on this airlines in comparison to Ryan Air and S AS? We are flying from London to Stockholm in late September. What about extra charges and baggage limits? Service (I realize that service might be a thing of the past but you never know!) Thank you.

Ryanair flies into Skavsta rather than Arlanda; they'd be my last choice unless they were still significantly cheaper even after adding up all the extra charges. I've flown both BA and SAS between London and Stockholm Arlanda with no issue. I haven't flown Norwegian.

I have flown Norwegian several times and find them very good when comparing price/quality. The base price for the ticket does not include baggage in the hold, seat assignment and credit card fee, so you need to factor this in when comparing prices. Also, food and drink are "pay on board". With SAS, baggage is included, But you also pay for food and drink with SAS. Anyway, all this is standard for all low cost airlines. Tickets are generally quite cheap, the airline flies into main airports, unlike Ryanair, and their fleet is modern with newer airplanes than SAS and with free WiFi on most planes. It is not really necessary to pay for seat assignment, IMO. Also, their on-time record is good. Norwegian has no on line check in, you need to go to check in machines within Scandinavia or check in at the counter.

If it's any reassurance, Norwegian is now considered the third-largest budget airline in Europe, after RyanAir and easyJet. As the previous poster has suggested, go to the company's home page and read the information on procedures and fees very carefully. As to service, beyond the basic safety procedures you will pay for any extras you choose to make use of.

We flew SAS into Copenhagen. The plane was packed the same as virtually all air travel is these days but otherwise on time and decent service. SAS carry-on rules are pretty strict; in addition to size limits they allow only one item and a max of 18 lbs. We carry on only but were able to stay within the limit.
