No refund on Miles

So I bought a ticket from Delta to attend a family funeral. But I got I’ll and had to cancel.

Delta put my monitor a credit I can use to fly in the next year or so. But the points I had used to by an upgraded seat they say is forfeit. “Seat upgrades are non refundable” So said the very rude and unfriendly agent. First unpleasant person I have ever talked with on the phone at Delta. It was like I was interrupting her by calling..

So keep that in mind.

Douglas, first of all I am sorry about the loss of your family member.

I don’t know of any airline that refunds the cost of seat upgrades. The only exception has been when the airline canceled the flight. Whenever I have changed or cancelled a flight, those fees have been forfeited since they are non refundable. This has been on several airlines.

I am sorry you felt that the agent was rude to you, that can’t have been pleasant. I hope you are well soon.

Hi. I had this similar on British Airways. I canceled a flight that I "paid" for using miles. I also used miles to select a seat.

The airline made it clear that purchases for seats were non-refundable.

I got the miles used to buy the ticket refunded but the miles for the seat are gone.

This was earlier this week.

As stated by the previous poster, I believe this is standard on all airlines.

Hi, douglas, hope you are doing better! It’s been a while…. :) Feeling the pain of losing miles. I changed a flight for next month and lost my seat reservation money on British Airways. But at least no one was unfriendly…..

You have nothing to lose by sending a message to Delta Customer Service with an explanation of your issue and a request for the refund of the miles. You may get a better response. Or try calling again and speaking to a different agent who may be more helpful. I was able to get American Airlines to refund my upgraded seat that way.

I am sorry for your loss, but unfortunately you did agree to those terms.
