Night Train with a Youth Global Pass - 1st Class?

Hello,

I have a Youth Gobal pass, and am looking to book a reservation for either a double or triple room for the night train from Nice to Rome (369). I am going during the high season (July), thus all the 2nd class tickets are sold out. However, there are first class tickets available on raileurope.com ($106 for a double). The prices reflect that I have a pass, but can I purchase a first class ticket with a Youth Gobal Rail pass? Or, can I only purchase 2nd class seats for the price discounts. I am confused on this, as you may be able to tell. Thank you!

With a Youth pass you can pay a supplement for a bed in a 2nd class T3 sleeper. Here are the "in Europe" supplement prices as of a year ago for train 369: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/euraide/t0369nic.htm.

To avoid paying Rail Europe's inflated prices, call the SNCF English-speaking number to make your reservation. Dial 011 (US international access code) + 33 (country code for France) + (0)8 92 35 35 39. Omit the initial zero which is only used for calls originating in France. If you get an automated response, press 2 and you should be connected to someone who speaks English.
