I want to take the night train from Rome to Munich in early December but the Deutsche Bahn website isn't giving me the price. How do I get the price or can I wait to buy the ticket until I get to Rome? I'll be there for about 3 days before I need to go up to Munich.
I know that in popular seasons, like late summer/fall, accommodations for those trains can sell out a month in advance. I suggest you get your reservations as soon as possible. NachtZugRiese (night train travel) is the night train branch of German Rail, and you can find the price or puchase tickets and reservations on their website at htttp://buchung.nachtzugreise.de. Use the British flag to get English if you need it.
Pay attention to the Spar or savings fares. They are non-refundable, but you can save a lot if you buy early enough.
As Lee says, book well in advance to get SparNight fares. As of today, booking at http://buchung.nachzugreise.de is available up to 9 December.
