Night Train Railpass question

My husband & I are looking into buying our railpass. We are planning on travelling to Germany, Switzerland, & Italy so we are looking at the 3 country Select Pass... however, we are wanting to take a night train from Munich to Rome & are wondering if we need to add Austria to our pass, because we will be going thru Innsbruck on the night train??

Also, if we use our railpass starting on a Saturday during the day & then take a night train that night - does that only count as one travel day or two??

Thank you for the advice!

It's also possible to purchase point-point tickets for the section through Austria.

If you use the 7 PM rule, understand that, on "Eurail managed passes", you cannot transfer off of that train before 4 AM (I have no idea why that matters)

You have to pay for the Austria section. We went from Munich to Venice via Innsbruck and needed to pay. Just go to the train station the day before and pay for that section, or if you are reserving your seat over there, pay then. It was pretty cheap from what I remember.

If you purchase the Austrian section from German Rail in Munich it will cost about €23 per person. If you get it from Austrian Rail, it might be a couple of Euro less. 2x €23 = ~$62. How much more does it cost to add a fourth country to the pass?

Also, use the German Rail website to compare the cost of a SparNight fare on the train (which includes both the rail portion and accommodations) and the cost of accommodations ("reservaton") alone on the train. It might not be worth using a day of the rail pass.
