Night Train from Munich, Paris or Zurich

I am planning a trip for myself & spouse for Oct 09.fly into FRA and our destination is Rome & return to FRA via Venice. I want to do the train(vs flying) to Rome, first class which city? which train is better? anyone has done this? & ret via day train via munich to FRA for scenery. any thoughts. thank you
