I'm thinking about taking the night train from Madrid to Lisbon in June, but I'm concerned that I may be getting overcharged on the RailEurope site. (The cost for a private 1st class berth is $250 +$18 to deliver the tkt.) Can I wait until I get to Madrid to buy the tkt? Is there a better place to make the reservation? Thanks.

These trains cost quite a bit, and fill up really quickly. I wouldn't wait to make these reservations.
My husband and I will be on this route in both directions within the next month. We have Eurail passes and the reservation and supplement was 169 Euro for two people WITH the pass.
We got our reservations through EurAide, which charges the same price as if you made the reservation in Europe, but charges a 50 dollar total handling and delivery fee.
I had a great experience with them. If you have more than just a couple of reservations to make, EurAide is a way to go. Email your itinerary and what passes/reservations you want on what trains to [email protected] and Karen, the nice lady from there will email or call you back in the evening or on the weekend.
