How would one rate the private compartment for night travel on the Cesky Drahy night train from Krakow to Prague, for a woman of a certain age.
We were a family of 5 in a 6-person couchette on that train. It was basic, but comfortable. It felt very secure with a lock on the door. There were no shady characters lurking about. However, we were there in July when the temps were around 90 and night temps of about 80 and there ws no AC on the train. We had to have the window open to get some air flowing and that made the train very loud. Beware there are also some lengthy stops involved (because the trip really isn't that far - they have to waste time) and there is some noise associated with those stops. It wasn't a great night's sleep. But it was otherwise fine - no matter what your age.
Thank you for the information.
Eva, We rode a night train on that route in 2009. We were 2 couples in a couchette compartment that was, as Randy said, basic. No sink, no toilet, no mirror, no .... , just 4 beds. The border police (?) stopped by during the night to check passports. Everything was fine. Good luck.
Thank you for sharing information. Is there a level above couchette?
