Hi,
Are there any other options for taking a night train from Krakow to Budapest besides Polrail? We are going on Sept 22. The rate is $130 per person. Also, when would the tickets have to be booked?
Thanks for your help.
Diane
I haven't done that route yet, but I will do it next fall and I'm thinking about doing it by bus, which is about 6 hours and maybe $15 per person. If you want to spend more, I came across lots of private transfer services that come in at about $350 per carload. Two I came across are primetourskrakow.com and krakowtraveltime.com. I can't vouch for them though as I haven't used them - they're just scribbled into my notes for the upcoming trip.
Are you adamant about going at night, or are you open to riding a bus during the day? One bus company, Polski Bus, is very inexpensive (say $15 each way) compared to your $130 ticket. You can read about it in the below thread:

I will look into it. Thank you.
How many of you? For about $450 you can get a private transfer for three people, for about $500 you can get a private transfer for 5 people.
If you had the time I would suggest breaking up the trip with a little sightseeing in Slovakia. Too good a country to just pass through (or around).
