Night train confusion/clarification Munich to Rome

I booked a night train from Munich to Rome for my husband and myself. It is a day couch for 2 persons in a compartment. I've now noticed that for about $70 more I could get a sleeper 2 persons in deluxe double cabin.

My question is this - is the day couch just a seat - will we be in a space similar to an airplain seat? Or will it be an actual compartment for just the 2 of us only have seating and no sleeper? Is the sleeper only for 2 people?

Thanks for any clarification!

The Bahn does say 2 seats in a "compartment", so I have to assume it is one of the older side aisle cars with 4 (1st cl) or 6 (2nd cl) jperson compartments. Those seats recline somewhat. If you are alone in the compartment, you can recline the seat all the way, and lie across the two facing seats, but if others are there, you can't recline the seats all the way.

Sleepers are for 1 (singel) or 2 (double) people.

There are also 4 and 6 person couchettes, where you can lie down but sleep in your clothes.

Yes, you have booked a compartment with reclining seats. Unlike couchettes and sleepers, the door doesn't lock from the inside. Couchettes have either 4 or 6 bunks. Sleepers have either 1, 2, or 3 beds. See this page for a detailed description, including photos.

From whom did buy your tickets? Are they full-fare so they can be exchanged or refunded? Or are they non-refundable, non-exchangeable discount fare tickets?

The tickets are fully refundable - I booked them with Bahn. for the little bit of extra money, I'm going to cancel these and rebook.

Thank you for the help!
