Unless I have been misled, Swiss Air has a new policy re: contents of the ziplock bag. It seems that all enclosed products must be unopened and purchased the day of departure. Also, proof of purchase ON THAT DAY must be available. Is this reasonable? I am glad that I read this on their website today as I pack for a trip to Kenya.
Jennifer....the liquids regulations are set by governments, not by the airlines. In checking the Swissair site, I think you may be referring to the liquids purchased at duty-free shops before the security check....such as liquor...which must have been sealed in a tamper-proof bag by the duty-free store and contain the proof of purchase from that day. However, as far as the 100 ml regulation for personal items like shampoos, etc, that remains unchanged.
Thanks for the reply. I printed from Swiss Air website this morning, and under Liquids Bought Before Security Check, it states that packaging must contain proof of purchase on the day of departure. I did speak to a travel rep at S.A. who felt that my interpretation was correct. If you go to their site, the paragraph to the left of the ziplock bag is the one that I mentioned. I will take the printed sheet with me when we leave on Friday from Montreal, and I'll ask a few pertinent questions. Meanwhile, any ideas are welcome.

Yes, Jennifer, it says "Liquids bought before security check," and that comes under the heading, "Liquids from duty free sales at the airport." This has nothing to do with the personal items you bring on board, only liquids you purchase at duty free before security. European Union regulations regarding the carrying on of liquids have not changed recently, and they are the ones that the Swiss government has put into effect. Please check with the representative at S.A. and ask where they got the information that these rules had changed.
If this is the page you're looking at: http://tinyurl.com/43dub7
Then it specifically says these rules only apply to "Liquids from duty free sales at the airport".
Wow!! You two are amazing! Guess it's my pre-packing angst that has me seeing rules that are not there. I will check with a rep tomorrow just for clarification, as suggested. We do have to speak to one anyway re: the extra bag of donations we are taking. Thanks for your help.
That's understandable...the rules are bewildering. Just make sure the extra bag isn't liquid donations ;)
Funnnny! It's actually school supplies, frisbees, soccer shorts, t-shirts and soccer balls - deflated, of course.
